This is the easiest twistie. Sorry for the horrible pictures. I had my daughter taking pictures because my hands were full of hot glass!

1. Melt a blob of glass at the end of a rod and smash into a pancake shape.
2. Add a blob of dark transparent glass and smash again.

3. Add a glob of clear.

4. And another glob of clear on the other side.

5. Heat one end of the glob and grab all layers with tweezers or plyers. Pull off just a bit of glass and discard. This step ensures that all the layers will pull together.

6. Heat a mandrel until glowing red, then poke it into the glob.

7. Burn off the rod, tweeze off a tad of all layers like we did on the other end and attach another mandrel to the other side. Melt the blob to a nice football shape without twisting the glass.

8. Pull the glob out of the flame and rotate until the glow subsides. Carefully pull the glass. While pulling, rotate one mandrel toward you and one away from you. The stringer will pop off the mandrels when it cools enough.
